| News from Week 9: Make Room! Tyler must now share the podium with up-and-comer Luke, who this week gained the one point he needed on Tyler to earn himself a tie for the top spot. In the past two weeks, Luke has also eclipsed Tyler in the Pick Percentage category. Congrats, Luke! (now, watch your back!). Emma's first place result this week moves her up two notches to a tie for fifth on the season standings board; Ken was not able to leverage his share of that weekly win result as effectively in the season standings, but he does move within a point of Poor Susan. Going into Monday night, Clara stood to gain or lose the most from the outcome, as she was the only one to pick Cincinnati and the spread was very thin. If Cincy had won, Clara would have earned two points and come out with sole possession of first place for the week, and would have moved into a tie for 4th on the season. Instead, she finds herself in a 3-way tie for 11th and down a peg on the season leader board. I confess, I was rooting for the Bengals on behalf of Clara last night, but I barely stayed awake into the second half. So while that rather odd result didn't come off, this week was very unusual in at least one way: zero Underdog points were awarded. Nobody correctly picked any upsets this week, and that is because everyone (naturally) picked the Pats, and the Pats ended up being the only favorite to lose. I don't recall ever seeing that before. |

| Each correct pick earns you a point. In addition to that, each correct underdog pick earns you a bonus point. Underdogs are indicated by the presence of a number next to the team name on the pick sheet, representing the number of points that they are expected to lose by (point spread). |

The winner at the end of the regular season gets their name engraved on the plaque of the trophy. The previous year's winner is responsible for getting the plaque updated, and the trophy mailed to the new winner in a timely fashion. Mark and Rosa have set the bar very high for turnaround time here.
Note: only family members are eligible for the family trophy. Other invited players are eligible for the "Family and Friends" trophy.
While we do run a pool for the postseason, there is no prize other than the honor of winning. |
